Returning to My Roots: Why I'm Choosing Natural Skincare & Reclaiming My Esthetics Journey

When I graduated and earned my esthetician license, I had big dreams.

I imagined myself taking clients, clearing acne naturally, helping women feel safe and seen in their skin, and creating calming facial experiences rooted in care not chemicals.

I had a vision, and I believed in it. Still do.

But when I moved to Charlotte, everything shifted. Life started happening quickly. Finances, stress, new routines, new city. And somewhere in all of that survival mode… I paused on the dream.

What I’ve Realized

Just because something pauses doesn’t mean it’s over.

I didn’t lose my love for skincare. I didn’t stop caring about how certain ingredients affect our hormones, our skin barriers, or our emotional well-being. I didn’t lose my passion for esthetics I just needed time to realign with it.

Why I’m Choosing a Natural Skincare Path

I’ve always been drawn to the gentle side of skincare the side that doesn’t rely on harsh chemicals or quick fixes, but instead focuses on balance, nourishment, and long-term healing. The kind of skincare that’s PCOS-friendly, inflammation-aware, and rooted in real knowledge of the body. That’s what feels right for me.

I want to create space for holistic facials, for natural acne support, for barrier-repairing treatments using ingredients you can actually understand. Because skincare shouldn’t be scary. And it definitely shouldn’t feel like punishment.

Where I’m At Now

Right now, I’m in the process of starting again with softness and structure.

  • I’m taking courses to refresh my knowledge.

  • I’m practicing facials again, one face at a time.

  • I’m slowly creating a space to take in-person clients in Charlotte.

  • I’m planning to offer virtual skincare consultations rooted in natural care.

  • I’m building everything in alignment with who I am now not who I thought I had to be a year ago.

A Gentle Reminder (For Me & For You)

It’s okay to start again. It’s okay if life pushed you off your path for a while.

It’s okay if you’re still figuring out what your version of “success” looks like.

I’m sharing this season of my life on Velvet 98 because I know I’m not alone.

There’s someone else out there who hit pause on a dream but still feels it tugging

at their heart. This post is your sign that it’s never too late

to start again… naturally, softly, and with purpose.

Thank you for being here. Thank you for reading. Thank you for seeing me.

If you’re in Charlotte and interested in holistic skin care, stay tuned client

consultations and facial offerings are coming soon.
